MobileMe Picture Gallery
I've been curious about a good way to present pictures / photographs and I tried Apple's MobileMe gallery because it synchronizes easily with iPhoto and iPhone. You can see a short example at MobileMe Gallery. I'd say it does an adequate job but I didn't see any way to add captions and simple stuff like that which is something I definitely want. I'll play with it some more but it's not a solution if it can't do that. For example, if I upload a pic of the Rutabagamobile rolling through Roanoake, how are you going to know where it is unless you know what Roanoake looks like already. To my eternal shame, I confess I don't.
In conversations in the last couple of days, some people were surprised that I didn't know I went off the cliff about a year ago. I thought it was just the last couple of months but I don't suppose it makes much difference. Crazy and stupid are not the same thing and it might even be a blessing to be so stupid that one was not aware but that's an inverted "Flowers for Algernon" and that's pretty depressing stuff too. My intention is not to be depressing but rather to refer you to some times that didn't suck.
Try the Cincinnati tab at the top of the page. After you get to Cincinnati, click the Festival tab and it will show you in pictures about the Festival of Lights, an annual event in Cincinnati that takes place at the zoo. Sure, what could be more stupid than going to a zoo on bitter cold night in December but it was absolutely charming. You won't see any pictures of Nurse Judi and I but there are plenty of the Festival and the feeling of it is very much what I perceive Christmas to be and Nurse Judi was a hell of a trooper for stepping out that night.
For another similar experience, click the Orchids tab. When the Orchids page comes up, click on Krohn. This link is a little harder to find as I don't have a tab set up for it but you'll see a reference to the Christmas Show and that link or this one will take you to a pictorial on the way they transform the Krohn Conservatory.
Both of these events are signatures for Cincinnati and it costs peanuts to do either one. You might want to take a look at the pictorials, in part because it shows why I want to caption images in whatever gallery will contain them. The biggest part is that it may give you a taste of Christmas that you're not getting anywhere else.
