Phantasm Awards

Alexa and I were talking this morning about possible candidates for a Phantasm Award and she didn't get one that I didn't have up here already so I'm feeling pretty good that it really is a representation of the lunatic fringe jammers of Second Life. I'm open to suggestions but there's still no change as this isn't a committee and there won't be a vote. Hey, if you wanna build a pyramid are you going to call Congress or get yerself a Pharaoh.

hexx had a gig earlier today but I screwed that right up. Well, so did she on the announcement! Dealing with Rhode Island clam time and Euro time is nuts and last night I came out after an Australian act, a girl named Lacey. And she said publicly that she doesn't like Vegemite. I think she had some pretty good lyrics for the tunes but I've got to be able to hear you to put you up for a Phantasm. If you're clipping or singing too softly then those words are going to disappear. Keep an eye on those audio levels, young grasshoppers!

Also, don't get wussy in-between tunes. If your voice gets all soft so I have to adjust the volume up and down all the time to hear you when you're not singing, that sucks too. See above about audio levels! Maybe you're thinking, nah, that's not me to get all loud on myself into the mike but sure it is. You're already standing there with a whole roomful of people looking at you and waiting for you to do something so tell me again what's you! HEY THERE CINCINNATI! DO YOU WANNA FUCKIN' ROCK TONIGHT!!!

Nope, you don't have to get nasty but be somebody. Let's hear some presence on that stage! I came to hear you and that's not just your music. You are your music and are therefore interesting so give us some of that in-between your tunes. In RL, I very rarely raise my voice as I am Paul Muad'dib and I can kill with a sound. (Laughs hysterically) I've never made that Funky Blues noise in public in my life. I really do want to be Barry White in my next life tho. Or Paul Robeson! Yes, that's it! If you have never heard him, find anything at all by him right now. He's got the most unbelievable voice I have ever heard in my life!

That's what I'm looking for in Phantasms. Very cool jams can make up for a wimpy stage presence but having both is very good indeed. Anyway, seeing who I have up there already should give a pretty good idea of what kind of stuff I'm trying to find.
